The August schedule is now up and most of you are going or will be going back to school soon (if you haven't gone back already). Karate is always in session though!
With that being said, Sensei Aaron recently challenged everyone to this assignment:
"Think of/say 6 positive things before you think of a negative thing"
For example, if your Mom or Dad tells you to do your chores, instead of grumbling, you could say "Thank you Mom for cooking breakfast. Thank you for washing my clothes. I love you Mom, etc." By the time you get to the sixth thing, your negative thought shouldn't matter - it should be forgotten. Not just for our younger students but our adult students too! Anyone can do this.
It's a small change that can change the way you think day by day. You'll think more positively out of habit. Then you can share this with others and they can change their attitudes. This small change could even have an impact on the world.
So think positively and live positively everyone! See you in class!
The July schedule is now up! Just a reminder that there will be no class this weekend, so please enjoy your 4th of July holiday safely! We will see you all back in the dojo next week.
Also, good luck to Senpai Ty and Carson who will be competing in the AAU Karate National Championships this week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida! We know you'll do your best and we look forward to hearing your experiences when you return to the dojo next week.
There will be some updates and new media coming to the website soon, so stay tuned!
The June schedule is now up! So sorry that it's a few days late!
Most importantly, a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who came out on Sunday, May 25, and helped out with the car wash, made a donation, brought their dirty cars or just visited us!!!!! It was a successful event even though the weather wasn't the greatest, and we owe it all to everyone! Pictures to come!
Now that it's summertime for many of you, why don't you bring your friends down to the dojo! They can watch you practice or try it out for themselves! In fact, we also welcomed two new students recently, Skyler and his dad, Robert! Welcome to the TKO family!
See you all in class and have a safe summertime!

So sorry for the late schedule! The May schedule is now up on our website. If you are a part of our email list though, you should have received the schedule some time last week.
With summer coming soon, I hope everyone is continuing to study hard and do well in their classes! Don't forget to show Sensei Aaron your report cards!
Also, our big CAR WASH is coming up on May 25! We will start at 8 AM and end at 3 PM. I hope you all have been telling your friends and family to come down and support the dojo! A sign up sheet will be going out to all parents shortly.
See you all in class!
The April schedule is up now! Sorry for the delay.
To everyone competing in tomorrow's tournament - GOOD LUCK! Just remember to do your best as always and compete against yourself first. You will all do well!
Also, we will be having a car wash on Sunday, May 25 at the McCully 76. Details to come. Come down to help, say hi, and bring your dirty cars to help us raise some money for Nationals!
The March schedule is now up! We hope to see you all in class!
Don't forget: March 8 there will be no class due to the Hirano tournament. Good luck to those of you who will be competing! Train hard until then and always do your best!
For those of you interested in learning karate, it's never too late! We offer free trial lessons! Even if your child is shy, think of this: Sensei Aaron, as he always tells the class, was very shy growing up. And yet he was still able to train hard and become a World champion even at a young age! Don't let being shy stop you from learning something awesome that you can take with you no matter where you go! As you can see by our "Senpais weigh-in," karate is much more than learning how to punch, kick and do katas!
See you all in Class! Osu!
I apologize for the lack of updates! We're still here, and have exciting things planned for the dojo this year!
The February schedule is now up! We hope to see you all in class! Don't forget, you can always inquire about a free trial lesson with Sensei Aaron!
Congratulations to the students who recently took their kyu (belt) exam and earned their next belt. Continue to work hard and "seek perfection of character" in and outside of the dojo!
Good luck to those of you who plan to compete in the February 9 tournament! Here's a long overdue installment of "Senpais weigh in" featuring Carson Ikeda, who has trained with Sensei Aaron for many years. Osu!!!!

Here at TKO Hawaii, we are very thankful for many things: Awesome students, awesome Sensei and the opportunity to learn the art of Shotokan karate! We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
This past month, we were very honored to have the AAU/USA Karate team train in our dojo the Friday prior to the All Hawaii State Karate tournament. A few students who were able to stay late were also able to train a little with the team. We were also visited by Sensei Linda Donner and our TKO Head Sensei, Sensei Mirza.
TKO Hawaii had a number of students compete in the All Hawaii State Karate Championships: Brayden, Bryce, Carson, David and Kenzo! You all did very, very well and had a great learning experience! Team USA also did very well in the tournament on the 23rd! Congratulations everyone!
The next Kyu (belt) exam is coming up in a few short weeks. Train hard everyone! The first thing to remember is to compete against yourself and improve yourself. Every one of us can be on the USA Karate team!!!
See you all in class! December schedule is now up!
The November schedule is now up! It's a short month as far as classes go, but we will be training extra hard for the tournament coming up on November 23: the 54th All Hawaii State Karate Championships / 2013 Honolulu International Karate-do Championships at Manoa Valley District Park! Also, Sensei Mirza, our head sensei, and Sensei Linda will be coming from Chicago with a team of competitors to represent Team USA in this tournament! We are looking forward to an exciting month of Training, Tournament and Thanksgiving!
